The Year 3 History Inquiry Unit for Term 3 focused on the Big Idea of ‘Country.’ Our Essential Question was: “Who lived in our local area first and what do we know about them?” As part of this unit, Year 3 students attended an excursion facilitated by David Ella (Aboriginal Education Officer at the Catholic Schools Office.) Students had the opportunity to investigate the following questions:
Who were the original people of our local area and how did they live?
What special relationship did the Aboriginal people have to Country and Place?
We gained many new insights about the history of our local area and we thank David for sharing his time, knowledge and talents with us.
